Lake Arrowhead

We took a weekend trip to a cabin at Lake Arrowhead with Paul's family. It was so nice to be at a lake and in the mountains and see pine trees so close to home here in California. It reminded me of Utah. And its only about an hour and a half from where we live.We got there on friday evening and had dinner, talked, sat out on the deck, and opened a few presents. The whole weekend was like a progressive shower for little 2.0. Presents just kept appearing! Garrett got a Lil' Peanut and 2.0 got a Sweet Pea stuffed toy. Here's Garrett with his. (My mother in law added a DOC band to it. Hah!)Saturday we went to the little town nearby, about a 10 minute drive. We wandered through the shops, had lunch and fed the ducks at the lake. We found a children's clothing store and a toy store. Both dangerous for my mother-in-law. Needless to say, Garrett will not be bored for a long time. (And I will not experience silence for a long time...band instruments, a piano with little animals swinging around, a farm truck the moves and is full of animals that each make a noise...it's all better than a bored, grumpy baby, right??) It was a cute little town and so nice to be right by the water. It was beautiful there. Garrett loved watching the ducks and the huge fish that would try to get to the food first.Garrett's lips are like magnets to cups and straws. He's determined to master both of them. He took this cup from me while we were standing on the dock at the lake.Saturday evening we ordered pizza, watched a movie, and made hair clips, headbands and onesies for the baby. Here's G chillin' with a movie and a bedtime snack.Sunday morning it was raining. I loved every second of it. It felt so nice and cool and I was a little disappointed when the clouds broke and the sun came out. We had breakfast at a restaurant on the water and spend the afternoon reading, relaxing and crafting. On the drive home we stopped at Bass Pro Shop to look around. Paul and I have dreams of someday owning a party barge. We checked them out at Bass and Garrett tried out the driver's seat. Here's the progressive shower loot, and the crafty stuff we all made. Look at the quilt! Paul's mom's cousin made it for the baby. I love it!It was a good weekend, but after getting home, getting Garrett bathed and down, having a little down time together and calling it a night, we both said as we crawled into bed, "Awww...our own bed..." It's always nice to be home.
