Pumpkin Patch

We took Garrett to a pumpkin patch at a park in Irvine that was all decked out for Halloween. (I'm much more into starting young when it comes to memories and traditions than Paul is, but we had a good talk on the way and I think we better understand each other now.) Even though I was looking forward to going, I had a feeling it was going to be a county fair experience. We go to a fair every year, and every year we say, "why do we go to fairs?" But the pumpkin patch was a lot more fun than the fair. It was only 5 bucks to park and free to get in, already a good start. There were pumpkins everywhere and Garrett loved every minute of it. He was totally enthralled with everything the whole 2 and a half hours we spent there.

He loved playing in the piles of pumpkins. He loved the hay bails. We went through a haunted house. Not scary at all and everything that was white inside glowed and Garrett thought that was pretty cool.We took him one a hay ride and he stood and looked between the slats of wood the whole time.He "won" a blow up lion.We went through a hay maze. Garrett was a little annoyed that Paul took the lion away for a picture. We had lunch after all the fun. Garrett had a grilled cheese sandwich and he never looked at me once when I was handing him food. He was watching kids in the pumpkins and that was way more interesting than food.It was a fun day, with perfect high 60's weather. (That probably has a lot to do with why we hate fairs. It's always too hot!) And the weather here was awesomeHow cute is this picture? We call these the 'Cool Dude' shoes.

How fun! I have been thoroughly disappointed in "pumpkin patches" in Utah. They are so lame. CA has way better ones. We went yesterday to try and get some pics of the boys with pumpkins, and it was a giant fail. There were like 20 dinky pumpkins scattered about. :(
