Project 365: 211-218

July 30- Such a fun night at Huntington Beach with friends who are here from Utah.

July 31- I learned a few days ago that Land of Nod opened a store at South Coast Plaza.  Less than an hour from my house!  I went today and practiced self control.

August 1- Addie climbed a booster seat on her own today (I'm assuming), then stood up.  I happened to look up right as she was falling forward because Garrett told her he'd catch her.  She hit her face on a glass jar, and her stomach on the corner of a hutch.  Garrett didn't even kind of catch her.  I got to her as she was screaming and planking between the booster seat and the hutch.  She's fine.

August 2- Splashin' and fishin'.

August 3- Cruisin' around the city.

August 4- My littles walking to church.

August 5- Garrett loves taco night when I don't take time to cut up all the olives.  And yes, he only had olives for dinner.  Not a single bite of taco.  Whatever.  I didn't have any fight left in me.

August 6- Addie's the post-nap snack distributor.  Pringles cans are the perfect size for little toddler arms to reach into.  Plus, ya know, they're super healthy.

  

Summer Themes: Farm Week

This week was all about farms and farm animals.

I bought two wooden barns at Joann's for a couple bucks and let the kids paint them.  We also had a little wooden fence that Paul's mom made for something and then gave to the kids.  Painting is always messy, but the kids love it, so we do it...once in a while.  After painting we played with farm animals.

I found these farm stickers for 50 cents in a Micheal's clearance bin.  I drew a couple barns on white pieces of paper and the kids went to town and created these tornado-like farm scenes.  They LOVE stickers.  This was one of the faves of the week.

We had a picnic at a park by our house that has a free little farm/zoo area.  We saw ducks, bunnies, roosters, turtles, goats, horses...  Turtles and roosters were the fave.

The kids 'slept' on the bench until the roosters woke them up.

Garrett got this Little People farm for Christmas, but we put it away for a while to not have too many new things at once.  We pulled it out this week to play with it.  It's really cute and it makes farm animal noises. Addie's at the perfect age for adorable animal noises.

More painting and gluing.  Horse hand prints, and water color animals.  Garrett loved the hand prints.

 They both loved the animals I came up with using our paint splotches.  This one was my fave.

We read Otis books.  I love the illustrations in these books.  The kids enjoy them too.

Garrett and I baked blueberry muffins one morning.  Not very farm-y, but we used barn cupcake liners, so we called it a farm activity.

We also went to a farmers market, but no pictures.

July Photo Dump (Part 2)

 Addie entertained Garrett while he laid on the chair for almost 20 minutes refusing to swallow his bite of vegis.  He finally swallowed them.

 A play date with baby M.  We never got a good picture, but we tried pretty hard.

 Late night cookie makin'.

 This girl is determined.  We went to three stores in the shopping complex, and she carried this bag from the furthest store to the car.  It was a long hot walk, but she wanted to help!

 I guess she's seen me push the cup buttons, because she does it now too.

 A free community car wash and BBQ.

 National Ice Cream Day.  Any excuse to eat ice cream on a hot night.

She was bored while brother was in Utah for a week.

 At dinner, arm in arm with Daddy.

Paul had a day off so we headed to South Coast Plaza.  Garrett insisted that he push the stroller.

 He'd push as hard as he could and she how far she would go.

 The kids loved The Land of Nod almost as much as I did.  I could spend a lot of money in that store.  (If I had a lot of money.)

 "Look mom! No hands!"

 Addie swept the kitchen for me, holding her purse the whole time.
